Go through your day intuitively organized

Do you often feel like there are too many things to get done each day?  In addition to that, while you are doing one thing do several other ideas come to you of other things to do?

Here are some tips to successfully accomplish what is most important.

1.  Realize that not everything you think is important to get done today must get done today.

2.  Be open to the possibility that everything can be done easily.

3.  Start your day calm and energized  (Stretches like yoga, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and not procrastinating (acting immediately) can make a great difference in this area.

4.  Prioritize your day.
Each day choose what is most important to get done.  Also choose what may not need to be done at all even though you may like to do it. (Like surfing YouTube.)
While prioritizing your day, be flexible and act on intuition.  If there are things you think of to do but can wait, write them down or schedule them to be done at another time.
One system you can use is to list everything you “need” to do today. Put an “A” next to which things must be done.  Put a “B” next to everything that would be good to be done.  Put a “C” next to everything that really doesn’t need to be done.  (You may like to do it but you’ll be fine without it).
Now go through and select the items that you can ask some else to do.  Delegate those items to someone else and get started on the most urgent “A” item on your list.
This can be done with a paper notepad, dayplanner, handheld organizer, or computer program.

If you could use some assistance in organizing your day, go sign up for a free account at Simpleology.  Their Simpleology 101 course is great in helping people to get organized and achieve a lot more each day when they use the program.  It only takes about 10 minutes to use each day and saves me hours of “work” each week.  (It’s kind of fun too.)

5.  Commit to finishing that item or doing all you can on it, but do take 5 or 10 minute breaks every hour and drink plenty of water and have healthy meals and snacks.  These will help you work efficiently and stay focused on your important tasks.  When you are inspired to do something else important, make sure you’re at a good stopping point and when you’re done with that other truly important task be sure to return to the original task immediately.

6.  Reward yourself for finishing tasks.  Allow yourself to feel good for getting things completed.  That might include surfing YouTube after finishing the day’s objectives, or even better, something relaxing and healthy like a walk outside.
